It is a matter of "the best man (artist) winning the ribbon", and in this case a Singaporean sculptor.

As a matter of fact, I agree totally with Loz that this is a hazard, and I firmly believe that this twisted metallic strip will cost Monash ratepayers millions of dollars for public liability compensation payment unless it is fenced up.

This public exhibit must be also very tempting for graffiti artists to show off their talent, and soon the silver surface with be multi-colour, matching the racial mix of City of Monash.

This piece of artwork is fated to join the former Melbourne sculpture Yellow Peril hidden in the wilderness!

I don't respect people with silly ideas, let alone those with idiotic ones. How many people really use the public transport in the middle of the night, and how can anyone with a grain of grey matter in the brain propose the round-the-clock public transport system for Oakleigh?

The buses or trains from Oakleigh will have to go somewhere, which means the "somewhere" will need 24-hour system, and the destination from that "somewhere" will also need 24-hour operation.

In addition to running of the trains, what about manning of train stations (not that all the stations are manned at the present during opening hours)?

The number of people using public transport at these hours is so small that it is cheaper to have subsidised taxis fares, using Rolls Royce, for them. The proposal is policy on the run, and no cost analysis has ever been done before they open their "gaps".

Have these do-gooders ever observed how many people are using the public transport system during off-peak at present? Please don't let these candidates fool you in the next election. Money has to come from your pocket!

Punishment must fit the crime or else incidence of the same nature will repeat itself.

Crime should not be glorified, but publicised in the most negative way possible, in order to deter future offenders. If our justice system fails, then media like this paper with the support of the community should take on the responsibilities to be the judge and jury.

I do not advocate violence as a form of punishment, but instead the foundation of these offenders' arrogance and self-centredness must be shaken or even destroyed, by means of doing menial tasks such as cleaning wild animal cages in the zoo, working in a sewerage farm, maintaining road works in the Simpson Desert, etc.

We are not trying to take the laws in our hands, but we must make the lawless offenders feel that they are not as powerful and frightening as the wild animals, their behaviour stinks, and the conditions of the path to repentance is as harsh as a desert.
